LEGAL REGIME FOR THE CONSUMER PROECTION AND ITS HUMAN RIGHTS PERSPECTIVE

Abstract Legal regime for the consumer protection is the result of the exploitation met out by the consumer. The exploitation by the business lobbies, corporate master, manufacturer, traders…etc. Advent of industrialisation, LPG, WTO, advancement in technology and communication and the other economic reforms amongst the friendly nations adversely affect the rights of the consumer. Consumerism strengthens the spirit of consumer protection movement. The need to protect and recognised the rights of the consumer as human right is the need of the hour. Though indirect recognition can be met out from various UN conventions, still there is need to recognise their rights as human rights to expand the human rights phenomenon. UNGCP 1985 come to rescue and for the better protection of consumer through various policies and legislation.
